Duri is a village south of Tamworth in the New
England region of New South Wales, Australia. Duri
lies on the Werris Creek Road and the Main
North railway line. At the 2011 census, Duri had a
population of 534.
Duri is part of the Western Rural region. Historical
records show that the earliest settlement
happened in the area in the 1830s. Much of the
land was used for sheep raising during that time
up until today. Other sources of livelihood in the
Duri locality have emerged through the years,
including cattle and sheep grazing, limestone
mining and crop production. Although a remote
area, Duri is just a short distance away from urban
areas such as the Tamworth district.
