Tallangatta is a town in north-eastern Victoria,
Australia. The town lies on the banks of the Mitta
Arm of Lake Hume, approximately 38 kilometres
south-east of Albury-Wodonga along the Murray
Valley Highway. Tallangatta is a suburb of Northern
Victoria, Victoria and is about 264 kms northeast of
VIC's capital city of Melbourne. In the 2011
Australian census the population of Tallangatta was
956 when there were 495 Females and 461 Males
living there. The median age for people living in
Tallangatta was 47.
Beef and dairy cattle farming is the dominant
industry, with a small abattoir the only substantial
secondary industry in Tallangatta.
