Sorrento is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria and is
about 62 kms south-southwest of VIC's capital city
of Melbourne. In the 2011 Australian census the
population of Sorrento was 1,448 when there were
749 Females and 699 Males living there. The
median age for people living in Sorrento was 60.
Sorrento is a township in Victoria, Australia,
located on the shores of Port Phillip on the
Mornington Peninsula, about one and a half hours
by car south of Melbourne. Sorrento is a largely
upper-class, seaside resort area, but is also a quiet
seaside township in the off-peak months of the
year. It was named by the Italian founders
after the southern Italian town.
