Strahan is a suburb of Tasmania, Tasmania and is
about 183 kms west-northwest of TAS's capital city
of Hobart. In the 2011 Australian census the
population of Strahan was 824 when there were
393 Females and 431 Males living there. The
median age for people living in Strahan was 41.
Strahan is a small town and former port on the
west coast of Tasmania. It is now a significant
locality for tourism in the region.
Strahan is a harbour-side village with a dark and
fascinating convict past set on the edge of the
Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area.
Nestled on the shores of massive Macquarie
Harbour, Strahan is the gateway to the World
Heritage listed Franklin–Gordon Wild Rivers
National Park.
