Dover is a suburb of Tasmania, Tasmania and is
about 54 kms south-southwest of TAS's capital city
of Hobart. In the 2011 Australian census the
population of Dover was 763 when there were 376
Females and 387 Males living there. The median
age for people living in Dover was 46.
Dover is the southernmost town of its size in
Australia, located on the western shores towards
the southern end of the D'Entrecasteaux Channel,
just south of the Huon Valley, southwest of Hobart,
located on the head of Port Esperance in
Tasmania.
Dover is a pretty fishing village with beaches,
pastoral scenery and plenty of fresh seafood. The
town is a centre for apple orchards and fishing for
salmon, abalone and crayfish. Its Atlantic salmon
fish farm is the largest in the Southern
Hemisphere.
