Capella is a small town in the Central Highlands
Region, Queensland, Australia. Capella is midway
between Emerald and Clermont on the Gregory
Highway. At the 2006 census, Capella had a
population of 796. Today, Capella is a service town
catering to the large coal-mining interests in the
area as well as pastoralists.
Capella is the centre of the Central Highlands coal

Located on the Gregory Highway, 314km west of
Rockhampton and 944km north of Brisbane,
Capella sits on rolling downs country with the
striking Peak Range as its backdrop. It is the
business centre for the Peak Downs district of the
Central Highlands Regional Council.

one hour drive radius of Capella.
