Metung is a quiet holiday town which lies on a
section of land between Bancroft Bay and Lake
King. It is charming and upmarket attracting

Metung is located 312 km east of Melbourne via
the Princes Highway. It is 31 km east of Bairnsdale
on the shore of Lake King.
Metung is a town in East Gippsland region of
Victoria, Australia. Metung is 314 kilometres (195
mi) east of the state capital Melbourne and
between the larger towns of Bairnsdale and
Lakes Entrance. It is on a small peninsula 31
kilometres (19 mi) south-east of Bairnsdale,
separating Lake King and Bancroft Bay on the
Gippsland Lakes. At the 2006 census, Metung had
a population of 1,207.
